Highway Conditions
Tomei Expressway from Tokyo to Hakone is excellent. The Hakone Turnpike mountain road is scenic but winding. Routes around Fuji Five Lakes are well-paved. Fall colors and heavy snow (Dec-Feb) require caution.

Charging Tips for This Route
Japan uses CHAdeMO standard. Charge in Tokyo before departing. There are NCS chargers at Hakone town and Kawaguchiko station area. Many luxury hotels offer overnight AC charging (200V). For the return, charge at Gotemba or Ashigara SA on the Tomei Expressway.
